50 Ton
12'' x 36" opening
Kohler Command 20hp V twin gas engine
The machine works as well as the day it was new. The 12v car battery used to start it needs to be replaced. I took a video of snapping a stone. If its too big to send with the other pics I will send it separate.
I have only used premium non-ethanol gasoline in the engine since I purchased it. The engine is an air-cooled command 20. I put the hour meter on it a few years after I bought it so it probably has around double the amount of hours on the meter. I would say around 2000 hours or so. I have manuals for both the engine and the machine.
The machine has 2-25 ton rams (one on each side of the head) for snapping force. Neither of the cylinders leak. There are 2 small cylinders, one on top of the head and one underneath that push the wedges to lock the teeth. Neither of those leak. All of the hoses are in good shape with no weather checking and the 2 switching valves that run the head and teeth are also in good shape.
I had the ball coupler replaced yesterday on the trailer by a professional welder (see pics). I replaced it because I broke the ball safety latch off of the coupler one day when I was moving it in the quarry. I hit it with the skid steer fork and snapped it off. The original trailer ball coupler was 7000#'s, the new one is 10,000#s. The new one I had welded on is actually stronger. Previously I was using a metal wedge on the old one to hold the ball safety latch in place when I moved it short distances, but that would not be acceptable for pulling on the highway or for moving more than very short distances.
I hooked it up and towed it about 5 miles round trip. It pulled just fine.
I haven't used the trailer brakes since a few years after I purchased the machine in 2003. If the gentleman wants It can be pulled without brakes, but that is a ways to go. I won't know how well the trailer brakes work or if they work at all until I put a new breakaway battery and breakaway switch in.
Also, a number of the running and clearance bulbs will have to be replaced but it does have 2 out of the four brake and directional lights working and 2 clearance lights. That tells me that the wiring harness is still good and that the bulbs just need replacing. The trailer harness connector is a 6 pin and most truck jacks are now 7 pin so it will need an adapter.
In the time that I have had it, the trailer has only been moved maybe 500 or so miles, 350 of those were to transport it from the manufacturer in St Cloud, MN.
The tires still have the sidewall vent spew nibs (those little hair like thingies) from when they were brand new and 95% of the tread with no weather checking. The rims are a bit rusty but solid. The last time I pulled it the tires seemed to still be balanced, but I did not pull it over 55mph.
The cutter weighs 7200#'s.
